NEVER AGAIN – REMEMBRANCE AND RECONCILIATION DAY

May 8 is the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation in Ukraine. This date when we, as a nation, remember the horrors of war and honour the feat of those who defeated our land from the invasion. Today, people across the country honour the memory of soldiers who laid down their lives to protect their homeland, and express the gratitude to those who returned alive.

World War II lasted from September 1939 to May 1945 and covered all continents and maimed millions of lives. The war in Eastern Ukraine continues to take the lives of Ukraine’s best sons. Those, who have survived and are aware of the tragedy, say, “Never again!”.  We celebrate the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation and the Day of Victory.

May 8, on the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation, representatives of Sumy National Agrarian University, with the assistance of the Trade Union Organization of Teachers and Staff of SNAU, prepared food baskets for those who defended the independence of the Motherland in World War II. Today, these are elderly people who are at risk. So providing them with what they need is a sacred duty of the younger generations.

The SNAU Trade Union Organization did not forget about those who defended the independence of modern Ukraine in the fight against the occupier in Donbas, trying to thank and express deep respect to the courageous Ukrainians – participants in hostilities in the OJF zone.
