RADIOLOGICAL PROTECTION OF AGRICULTURE IS ON TIME

On June 5, Sumy National Agrarian University hosted a working meeting with Oleksandr Kopylenko, the Chairman of the National Commission on Radiological Protection.

Since the Chernobyl disaster, the issue of radiological protection of the population has been acute for Ukraine. The echo of the tragedy still makes itself felt. People, natural objects, ecosystems and agricultural lands are affected by radiation. To minimize this impact and protect Ukrainians from dangerous diseases caused by radiation, the National Security and Defense Council decided to hold a joint meeting with the National Commission on Radiological Protection.

In order to prepare for this meeting, the Chairman of the National Commission, People’s Deputy, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Oleksandr Kopylenko visited Sumy National Agrarian University, which is a basic institution of higher agricultural education in the North-Eastern region. During the meeting the guests met with the Rector of Sumy NAU Volodymyr Ladyka and also talked with the Dean of the Faculty of Agrotechnologies and Natural Resource Management Ihor Kovalenko. After the panel meeting the guests were shown the material and technical facilities of SNAU.
