Among the various holidays celebrated at our university there is one special winter holiday – Ukrainian
Vechornytsi (traditional Ukrainian mass events). For several years the Folk Dance Ensemble "Vesna" and
its leader Olha Hetmanenko have been actively promoting Ukrainian traditions and customs, songs and
dances among the youth of SNAU.
In ancient times, on the holidays of Catherine, Andrew or Nicholas, young people gathered for such
events, parties, where girls and boys sang, danced, had fun! The same holiday was at SNAU:
participants and graduates of "Vesna" gathered to take part in games, competitions, parties, songs,
dances, humor, to enjoy traditional Ukrainian dishes and rituals – all this made the evening
unforgettable!
Big thanks to the head of Folk Dance Ensemble "Vesna" Olha Hetmanenko for a wonderful evening, for
educating young people in love and respect for Ukrainian culture.
