On the occasion of the 210th anniversary of the birth of Taras SHEVCHENKO, Sumy National Agrarian University held the annual competition “Let’s unite Ukraine with the word of Taras”.
The role of Taras Shevchenko in Ukrainian culture
Taras SHEVCHENKO, an outstanding Ukrainian poet, artist and public figure, played an extremely important role in the development of Ukrainian culture and national identity. His work became a symbol of the struggle for freedom, justice and dignity of the Ukrainian people.
Shevchenko’s works became not only an integral part of Ukrainian literature, but also a symbol of national revival. His poetry and paintings embody a deep spiritual meaning, reflect the painful problems of our nation’s past.
Taras SHEVCHENKO became a symbol of strength of spirit, faith in the future and indomitable will of the people.
Contest “Let’s unite Ukraine with the word of Taras“
The literary competition “Let’s unite Ukraine with the word of Taras ” is held online annually on the basis of the Sumy National University for pupils (grades 9-11) and student youth of the Sumy region. In order to participate, young people create a video in which they recite any work by Taras SHEVCHENKO, and post it on their personal page in social networks Facebook or Instagram.
In total, this year the competition brought together more than 100 participants: students of SNAU and all its separate units, students of lyceums and schools of Sumy Oblast.
Andriy KOLODNENKO, Sofia RESHETNIK, Sofia BAKALO took 1st place among the students of SNAU. Yaroslav KOVALENKO, Anastasia BAZILSKA, Viktoria TOKAR, Ivanna TKACHUK, Karina DOVBYSH received a 2nd degree diploma. Sofya TATARENKO, Andrii KIRYLOVA and Oleksiy TYUTYUNNIK were awarded with a diploma of the 3rd degree.

SNAU students won the city competition
The Department of Youth Policy of the Sumy City Council held a city contest “I and Kobzar” for the birthday of Taras SHEVCHENKO, during which young people filmed social videos. The event brought together 109 participants, 11 of whom were students of SNAU. According to the results of the evaluation, the student of the Faculty of Agricultural Technologies and Nature Management of SNAU Sofia RESHETNIK became the winner in the “Individual Video” nomination.
