Sumy National Agrarian University has got its first recognition in the prestigious SCImago Institutions Rankings for 2024. The announcement of this fact was a real event for the university community, a confirmation of its high status and successful work. The ranking includes 49 Ukrainian higher education institutions.
The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) is a unique ranking of academic and research institutions based on an integral indicator that combines research, innovation and social impact. In 2024, SNAU was included in this ranking for the first time, taking the 38th position. Among agrarian universities, SNAU was ranked second. This demonstrates the recognition of the university’s achievements in the international arena and its significant contribution to the development of science and education.
It is important to emphasise that certain changes have been made for the 2024 ranking. The social impact factor has been modified by adding 3 new indicators that specifically reflect the social impact of the institution. It includes the generation of new knowledge related to the Sustainable Development Goals, the participation of women in research processes, and the use of the results in the creation and improvement of public policies.
This is an important step forward for SNAU in its development and recognition as a departmental institution. It also demonstrates the consistency in achieving high standards of education, science and innovation. The results of the ranking reflect the university’s significant contribution to the development of society and the promotion of sustainable development.
The success of SNAU in the 2024 ranking is a recognition of the hard work of all its employees and students, as well as confirmation of its place among the world’s leading universities.
