A Scientific and Practical Conference of Postgraduate Students

Postgraduate students of the Faculty of Biology and Technology and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine presented their reports at a scientific and practical conference.

The event was held on May 29 at Sumy NAU. The event was initiated by Sumy National Agrarian University in cooperation with the Department of Agricultural Development of Sumy Regional State Administration and the Association of Livestock and Poultry Breeders of Sumy Region.

Topics of the postgraduate scientific and practical conference: “Modern trends in the development of livestock and veterinary medicine”.

Ihor VOSCHENKO, chairman of the Sumy Oblast Livestock and Poultry Breeders Association, welcomed the students and said that a similar event, a practical conference, had already been held last year. From now on, the initiative will be annual. Ihor VOSCHENKO emphasizes that the purpose of the event is to provide graduate students with an opportunity to share their scientific achievements. He also notes that the best reports will be published at the national level.

The conference was opened by Oleksandr MASLAK, Director of the Department of Agricultural Development of the Sumy Regional State Administration, with a report on the state and prospects of the dairy farming industry in Sumy region. The government official emphasized the current trend of declining livestock numbers due to the region’s proximity to the border with the aggressor state. Mr. MASLAK also notes that Sumy region has a favorable price situation for doing business in the livestock sector. The Department of Agricultural Development of the Sumy Regional State Administration conducts relevant price monitoring on a weekly basis.

The scientific and practical conference “Modern Trends in the Development of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine” consisted of two parts: plenary and breakout sessions. It was then that postgraduate students of the Faculty of Biology and Technology and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine had the opportunity to present reports on various topics: from the technology of production and processing of livestock products to the treatment and prevention of animal diseases.

During the break between the plenary and breakout sessions, the participants of the scientific and practical conference tasted pork products prepared by students of the Faculty of Food Technologies. The meat raw materials used for cooking were obtained from pigs of different ages and different live weight.

The Postgraduate Scientific and Practical Conference was a great opportunity for applicants to share their knowledge and learn from their colleagues.
