The week of academic integrity at SNAU has come to an end. It was an extremely busy period, during which students and teachers actively discussed issues of ethics, honesty and responsibility in learning and scientific activity. Within the framework of the week, the Department of Quality of Education, Licensing and Accreditation organized many activities aimed at popularizing the principles of academic integrity, as well as providing students with practical knowledge and skills on correct citation, avoiding plagiarism and a responsible approach to the educational process.
At the beginning of the week, students were surveyed to find out the level of awareness and adherence to the principles of academic integrity. In addition, the participants received a selection of reference materials from the university library. The key event was the solemn signing of the Declaration of Academic Integrity, which once again reminded of the importance of the personal responsibility of each student. On the same day, the head of the Ethics Committee, Artem ARTIUKHOV, held an online meeting on the topic: “Academic integrity for freshmen”, revealing the basics of academic culture and ethics.
Among the educational events, a master class by Svitlana SHESTAKOVA on the topic “Rules of citing and avoiding academic plagiarism” was also noted, where students and teachers learned about international standards of academic work, which will help them in their further scientific activities. In addition, within the framework of a round table with the student committee of partnership in ensuring the quality of education, topical issues related to academic integrity from the eyes of students were discussed, which gave an opportunity to express their own expectations and perspectives regarding the improvement of the educational process.
The highlight of the week was the quiz-battle “Academic integrity for all 100%”, which gathered students for an exciting competition of knowledge and skills in the field of academic culture. Before the start of the competition, the rector of the university Ihor KOVALENKO congratulated the winners, emphasizing the importance of integrity as one of the key principles of the educational process and urging students to continue to maintain high standards of integrity in education. During the quiz battle, students demonstrated a deep understanding of academic ethics and culture, which created a wonderful atmosphere of teamwork and mutual support. The format of interactive training made it possible not only to have a fun and meaningful time, but also to learn important knowledge in a relaxed way.
In addition to the quiz, a series of seminars-discussions were held by Iryna SKLIАR, where updated requirements for self-evaluation of educational programs and post-accreditation monitoring were discussed. The discussion of these topics allowed all participants to learn more about practical aspects of improving the quality of education and strategic approaches to improving the educational process, which will be a useful tool for maintaining academic integrity at all levels of the university.
The week ended on a positive note, its results once again proved that the principles of integrity are not only necessary requirements, but also the basis of the academic culture of SNAU!
