On January 17, a scheduled meeting of the Supervisory Board of Sumy National Agrarian University was held. The agenda included the following issues:
1. Report on the work of the Rector of Sumy National Agrarian University in 2024 (Speaker – Rector of Sumy NAU, Ihor KOVALENKO).
2. Miscellaneous.
The meeting began with a speech by Ihor KOVALENKO, who reported to the members of the Supervisory Board of Sumy NAU on the main results of the University’s work for 2024: in educational, scientific, international, economic, and financial activities, noting that these achievements of the NAU staff were carried out under the leadership of two rectors. Considerable attention was also paid to the issues of security, energy independence and quality of training.
The floor was then given to Marharyta LYSHENKO, Vice-Rector for Scientific, Pedagogical and Academic Affairs, who noted that the conditions of martial law over the past three years have dramatically changed the situation of the education system in Ukraine in general and higher education in particular. The first significant challenge was the need to organize the educational process in compliance with security conditions. The second is the search for forms, means, and methods to ensure the right of every student to quality education and the implementation of the educational process.
Today, the university has 7 simple shelters in its academic buildings and dormitories, which contain 25 classrooms with 600 seats. These shelters also have sanitary rooms, restrooms, air ventilation systems, drinking water tanks and emergency exits. The work done made it possible to organize a winter session for students in January 2025 in the equipped premises of these shelters.
Yurii LUPENKO, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, took part in the discussion and supported the proposal of the Sumy NAU team and emphasized the need to obtain practical program results in the laboratories and research centers of the NAU.
