Rector of Sumy National Agrarian University, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Ihor KOVALENKO joined the work of the meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, which was held under the chairmanship of the Acting First Vice-President of the NAAS, Academician Ihor HRYNYK.
The main topic of discussion was the scientific foundations of the formation of an ecological and economic mechanism for the balanced development of rural areas in the context of European integration processes. The report on this issue was presented by the Director of the Institute of Agroecology and Environmental Management of the NAAS, Academician of the NAAS Oksana DREBOT.
Members of the Presidium of the NAAS and invited experts joined the discussion, including:
- First Deputy Head of the State Ecological Inspectorate of Ukraine Dmytro ZARUBA;
- Head of the All-Ukrainian Ecological League Tetiana TYMOCHKO;
- Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the Institute of Demography and Quality of Life Problems of the
- NAS of Ukraine, Academician of the NAAS Mykhailo KHVESTYK;
- Director of the Research Institute of Agroecology and Land Management of the National Agricultural
- University of Ukraine, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Alla PRYSCHEPA;
- Professor of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Technologies of the State University “Zhytomyr Polytechnic”, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Liudmyla ROMANCHUK;
- Head of the Department of Socio-Economic Development of Rural Areas of the National Scientific Center “IAE”, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Nataliia PATYKA.
During the discussion, the participants focused on the key challenges and prospects for adapting the legislative framework, financial mechanisms for supporting sustainable development and international cooperation in this area. Particular attention was paid to the integration of European practices into the system of state regulation, which will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the agricultural sector and improving the standard of living in rural areas.
Sumy National Agrarian University is actively involved in scientific and practical initiatives aimed at the sustainable development of the agricultural industry. The participation of Rector Ihor KOVALENKO in the meeting of the Presidium of the NAAS is another confirmation of the high level of expertise of the SNAU and its contribution to the formation of a strategy for the sustainable development of rural areas of Ukraine.
