On April 10, 2025, a regional educational seminar on “The Current State of the Education Quality Assurance System in Ukraine: Challenges and Prospects” was held at Sumy National Agrarian University, organized by the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance(NAQA). The event brought together representatives of higher education institutions of the region and became a platform for a meaningful dialogue on topical issues of the functioning of the quality assurance system in Ukraine.

Sumy region is a border region for which the issue of educational quality is closely related to the issue of security, because without a stable and secure environment, the educational process is impossible. In this context, the seminar is particularly valuable for representatives of higher education institutions across the region, as it allows them to coordinate efforts to preserve and develop the region’s educational potential in the face of challenges.

The participants of the seminar had the opportunity to listen to presentations by leading experts of the NAQA Olena YEREMENKO, Deputy Head of the National Agency, emphasized the importance of effective functioning of internal systems of quality assurance as a key factor in the development of the university.

The Head of the Agency’s Secretariat Oleksandr KHYMENKO familiarized the participants with the procedural aspects of re-issuing certificates of accreditation of educational programs in accordance with the updated requirements.

Oksana TREBENKO, Head of the Analytical and Training Support Department, provided explanations on the correct application of the “List of Significant Shortcomings” in the process of self-evaluation of educational programs.

Maksym FOLOMEIEV, Head of the Department of Public Relations and International Cooperation, presented modern approaches to communication between the NAQA and higher education institutions.

Holding a regional seminar at the SNAU is evidence of the university’s active participation in shaping a quality educational environment and its commitment to continuous improvement of internal processes. Such events help to establish a dialogue between representatives of the academic community and regulatory authorities, raise awareness of accreditation procedures, and strengthen the image of the university as a modern, open to change and progressive higher education institution.
