THE HEROES OF THE HEAVENLY HUNDRED MEMORIAL DAY

Published: February 21, 2023

On February 20, Ukraine commemorates the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred – people who defended the future of our country at the cost of their lives. It was on this day that most activists of the Revolution of Dignity died.

To honor the memory of the protesters, the students of the Sumy National Agrarian University, led by the department for organizing educational work, watched the film “The Winter That Changed Us” – a documentary film about the events that took place on the Euromaidan during the Revolution of Dignity.

Together with the city authority, representatives of other institutions of higher education in Sumy and concerned citizens, students, teachers and employees laid flowers at the central cemetery to the Heroes who died in this terrible struggle, as well as to the monument to the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. Then we visited the photo exhibition “43 Moments of War.

In addition, during the week, a national-patriotic lesson “Heroes do not die” was held at each faculty.

The official number of the Heavenly Hundred is 107 people. These were people of different ages, different nationalities, different professions and social status. The youngest of them was N. Voytovych – he was only 17. The oldest – I. Nakonechny – was 82. We should remember everyone who freed us from the yoke of dictatorship and integration, who gave his life for a European Ukraine.

Heroes do not die as long as the flame of their memory burns in our souls.
