On 26 January 2024, a meeting of the Supervisory Board was held at Sumy National Agrarian University. Six representatives of the Board were present in the hall, and three joined online. The main item on the agenda was the report of the Rector of the University, Volodymyr LADYKA, for the calendar year 2023. Thus, 2024 began with a summary of the past year and an outline of future prospects in various fields.
Opening the meeting, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Vice President of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine Yurii LUPENKO said:
“Today we have a truly historic meeting of the Supervisory Board of the educational institution, because it coincides with the end of the contractual obligations of the current rector. We will summarise the results to make new plans.”
The head urged the audience to actively participate in the discussion of the report’s results.
During his report on the results of the work, Rector of Sumy National Agrarian University Volodymyr LADYKA focused on the issues of student enrolment, the place of the institution in national and world rankings, scientific and grant work, opening of new educational programmes, improvement of the material and technical base, etc. Volodymyr Ivanovych paid special attention to the problem of financial income and expenses. For example, the university managed to receive an additional UAH 16 million from economic activities alone, namely the sale of products of production units, heating of nearby residential buildings, and the operation of the catering plant.
According to the results of the report, the work of the Кector and the entire staff of Sumy NAU was unanimously recognised as satisfactory. Each of the Supervisory Board members had the opportunity to express their opinion on the university’s activities. In particular, Olha TROFIMTSEVA, a graduate of the Putivl Professional College of the NAU and former Head of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, noted that she was proud of the higher education institution, where every employee works titanically for the benefit of agricultural education and science:
Volodymyr BYKOV, Director of the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board, spoke about the incredibly talented students of Sumy NAU. He also mentioned participation in the competition for the reconstruction of Independence Square in Sumy, during which the project of our students took a leading position, and the initiative of the NAU to reconstruct architectural monuments.
Members of the Supervisory Board also discussed the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine “On Announcing the Rector’s Election at Sumy National Agrarian University” and supported the decision of the university staff to petition the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to appoint the current Rector as acting Rector until the election is held.
After the meeting, members of the Supervisory Board inspected the new modern classrooms of the Faculties of Agricultural Technology and Environmental Management and Economics and Management, as well as the equipped shelters for student safety.
