Sumy NAU took part in a seminar on dairy farming in Sumy region.
Cattle breeding is one of the key agricultural sectors in the Sumy region that needs to be developed. Sumy NAU is also involved in this process, providing expert knowledge. This time, representatives of the university attended a seminar on dairy farming.
The event, which took place on June 25, was held in the picturesque villages of Yaseni and Symonivka, Sumy region. The event was held directly at the State Enterprise “Experimental Farm of the Institute of Agriculture of the North-East of NAASU”.
The seminar was opened with a solemn speech by Volodymyr LADYKA, acting rector of Sumy NAU. He expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in the development of livestock in our region and spoke about new horizons in the field of livestock with the assistance of general cooperation.
Then the floor was passed to Oleksandr MASLAK, Director of the Department of Agricultural Development of Sumy Regional State Administration, Mykhailo MELNIK, Head of Sumy District State Administration, and Hennadiy DEMIANENKO, Head of Sumy District Council. They spoke at the event, sharing their achievements and future prospects, plans and ambitions in this area.
In addition, the participants were shown a part of the breeding herd of cattle at the Research Farm of the Institute of Agriculture of the North-East of NAASU. During the tour, they discussed the factors that affect the quality and quantity of milk a cow can produce and how to improve the results.
The next location of the event was the First of May farm. The guests of the event were presented with a module on milk processing. The speaker Volodymyr OPRYSHKO, owner of the private cheese factory O`BEREG, spoke about the quality and components of milk in the value chain.
At the end of the event, the guests took part in a tasting of the company’s craft products and were able to visually evaluate their taste.
