On February 25, the first defense of master’s degrees under the unique for Ukraine double diploma program, implemented jointly with the Royal Agrarian University (RAU, Great Britain) under the educational program “Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security”, took place at Sumy National Agrarian University.
This is the only program of this direction in Ukraine, which provides for full training in English and meets the highest international standards for training specialists in the field of sustainable development of the agricultural sector. Graduates receive diplomas from state universities, which are recognized not only in Ukraine and the United Kingdom, but also throughout Europe, since the program is accredited by the German accreditation agency ZEWA.
18 master’s degree applicants from different regions of Ukraine took part in it, who for 1 year and 4 months mastered modern approaches to sustainable agriculture and food security. The topics of the diploma research covered current challenges in the agricultural industry: potato variety selection, organic production and combating greenwashing, preservation of native cattle breeds, use of green water for growing plants, management of agricultural enterprises and other issues that directly affect the future of sustainable agricultural production. The assessment of the master’s theses was carried out with the participation of an independent expert from Scotland, Alex Hilton, which confirmed the high level of preparation of the graduates and the compliance of their research with international academic requirements.
This event was an important step for SNAU, emphasizing the desire to strengthen international cooperation with leading foreign partners. Joint educational projects with the Royal Agrarian University contribute to the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of agriculture and the food industry, stimulate scientific research and create opportunities for graduates to find employment in international companies.
We would like to remind you that the partnership between RAU and SNAU has been going on for several years. The Royal Agrarian University has been providing comprehensive support to SNAU since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. We express our sincere gratitude to the team of the partner university for effective cooperation within the framework of the Twinning initiative, which opens up new opportunities for inter-institutional partnership between the UK and Ukraine. Thanks to the support of Cormac Consulting Group, the Foundation of the President of Ukraine for Education, Science and Sports, as well as British universities, this initiative contributes to the strengthening of academic ties and the development of joint educational programs. SNAU believes in the further expansion of cooperation, which will allow us to continue to implement innovative approaches in the field of agricultural education and science.
