Published: April 21, 2025

On 26 March 2025, a student of Sumy National Agrarian University won the second stage of the International Startup Competition ‘TourSystemUkrChallenge’, which was held at the State University of Trade and Economics. The competition brought together young researchers from different regions of Ukraine and abroad, and Sumy region was adequately represented in the research section by only one participant – a student of SNAU.

Yaroslav DZIUBA, a first-year master student majoring in Food Technology 181, presented a start-up project called Blooming Opportunity, created under the guidance of Dmytro BIDIUK, PhD in Engineering. The project is aimed at solving the urgent issue of recycling containers after burning decorative rekava candles. The solution involves the use of recycled materials to grow flowers for landscaping hotel interiors, based on scientifically sound recommendations developed at SNAU.

According to the results of the competitive selection, Yaroslav Dziuba’s performance was highly appreciated
by the jury, and he took the first place among the participants of the second competition section.
In his impressions, Yaroslav said:
It was embarrassing. Getting through to the second stage added motivation to work on the startup, but the news that my presentation would be the last of fourteen made me nervous. The results were unexpected. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the SNAU and the organizers for the opportunity to participate in the competition and represent our educational institution. But I would also like to thank my supervisor, Mr. Dmytro BIDIUK, because without him this research would hardly have achieved the result we have now!

The victory of a student of SNAU in the international competition is evidence of the high scientific potential of our university students and the effectiveness of scientific and pedagogical support for innovative projects. Such initiatives help to improve the international image of Sumy National Agrarian University, expand the practical orientation of educational programmes and engage young people in active research.
