Sumy National Agrarian University joined the celebration of Vyshyvanka Day, a significant holiday that honours Ukrainian traditions, national identity and cultural heritage.
On this occasion, students and staff renewed the symbolic ornament of the embroidered shirt on the university’s territory. The event demonstrated the university community’s concern for preserving national traditions, promoting Ukrainian values and strengthening unity in the face of modern challenges.
The colourful photographs forever captured the smiles of everyone who took part in the traditional photo in vyshyvanka, which will remind us of the years to come: ‘Despite the difficult times, we are strong and our strength is in unity.’
The SNAU Library, together with the Department for Organising Educational Work with Students, held an informational and cultural meeting, during which the audience learned about the history of Ukrainian embroidery, the symbolism of ornaments and family heirlooms – embroidered shirts passed down from generation to generation.
As part of the celebration, the results of a photo contest with sakura trees decorating the university grounds were also announced. The winners were both students and teachers whose works impressed with their creativity and aesthetic vision.
The cultural part of the event was complemented by a thematic quiz, a creative ornament recognition game and poetry performances by students. The participants of the event demonstrated a high level of awareness of Ukrainian symbols and creative initiative.
Sumy NAU expresses its gratitude to all participants for their active participation and dedication to Ukrainian traditions. Vyshyvanka is not only a national garment, but also a cultural code that unites generations, strengthens the spirit and inspires the future.
Glory to Ukraine!
