A modern training ground “Agility” was opened at the Faculty of Biology and Technology of Sumy National Agrarian University, which will become a new space for practical training of students majoring in Cynology. The project was implemented to improve the practical component of training and to develop the necessary professional skills in working with animals.
The agility centre, within which the playground is arranged, is a specially equipped area for training, socialization and exercise of dogs. It is here that canine students will be able to master agility techniques, a discipline that combines sports elements with animal training, developing their endurance, reaction and obedience. Practical training in agility helps students to better understand animal behaviour and develop professional dog handler skills.
“Today it is very important that students acquire not only theoretical knowledge but also real practical skills. Cynology is an fascinating and at the same time socially important profession. Thanks to such platforms, our students have the opportunity not only to work with animals, but also to prepare for an important role in the field of security, rescue and support of people,” said Ihor Kovalenko, rector of the SNAU.
The agility centre was opened as part of the Open Day of the Faculty of Biology and Technology, which brought together future applicants, students, teachers and guests of the university. The program of the event included speeches by representatives of the administration, demonstration training of dog handlers and familiarization tours of the faculty.
Sumy National Agrarian University is consistently developing its material and technical base, creating comfortable and modern learning conditions for students. The implementation of such projects helps students to apply the acquired knowledge in practice, forming professional competencies at a high level.
