Ambitions and Plans: New Student Self-Government Leaders were elected at SNAU Faculties

Published: October 21, 2025

At the faculties of Sumy National Agrarian University, the annual elections for student self-government bodies have taken place. For some student deans, one year has been only the beginning of their team’s ambitious plans — so they continue their work for a second term. Other faculties have introduced new leaders who are ready to bring fresh ideas to the development of student life.

We asked the newly elected student deans a few questions to let them introduce themselves to the university community. They spoke about teamwork, their favorite memories, gave advice to first-year students, and expressed a sincere desire to make student life at SNAU rich, active, and meaningful.

A second-year student of the Faculty of Agrotechnologies and Environmental Management, Maksym Khovzun, continues his team’s work, focusing on the development of student initiatives, volunteer projects, and the practical aspects of education. Among his warmest memories is organizing the first large-scale event, “SNAU Students Award,” which became a vivid example of team spirit. Maksym advises first-year students not to delay their involvement in university life because that’s what creates genuine student memories.

The Faculty of Biology and Technologies is now led by a third-year student, Alesia Zahorulko, who aims to make student life more inclusive and focused on mental health support and communication between students and the administration. She believes that interaction, events, and joint projects help build a strong faculty community. Her main principle is not to be afraid of responsibility and to stay open to new opportunities.

At the Faculty of Construction and Transport, a second-year student, Anna Berdnyk prioritizes developing an active student team and strengthening the faculty’s image. She recalls preparing for “SNAU Students Awards 2024” as a moment of unity, creativity, and friendly atmosphere. Her advice to her first-year self would be to be more confident and sociable.

The acting student dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, a third-year student Anna Losiatynska, focuses on uniting the student community, developing volunteer initiatives, and creating a space for everyone’s self-realization. She is convinced that participation in student government helps overcome insecurity, opens new opportunities, and builds a true “student self-government family.”

At the Faculty of Economics and Management, a third-year student Andrii Makarenko plans to strengthen the faculty’s international connections, volunteer initiatives, and career guidance activities. He believes that student government is not just an organization but a way of life that gives meaning and unforgettable emotions to the student years. His advice: do not be afraid of new challenges and move confidently toward your goals.

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology is represented by the first-year master’s degree student Daniil Petrusenko, who sees his mission as organizing events that truly benefit students. Among his brightest memories is his participation in the “SNAU Students Awards,” which showcased the faculty’s creativity.

At the Faculty of Food Technologies, a fourth-year student Aliona Popova prioritizes international cooperation, the practical integration of students into the professional environment, and the revival of active student life. She aims to make education at the faculty as dynamic and career-oriented as possible, and student events a space for creativity and experience exchange. Her advice to first-year students: don’t be afraid to ask questions and take advantage of every opportunity the university offers.

The Faculty of Law is now headed by third-year student Yehor Koropets, who strives to make student government activities more open and accessible to students — through live communication, events, and engagement in faculty life. His warmest memory is participating in a Christmas performance that became a symbol of unity and shared joy. Yehor believes that one should never fear new opportunities — every day of student life can become a step toward personal growth.

We wish the newly elected student deans success in achieving their goals, developing their faculties, and strengthening the university community. There are new projects, achievements, and success stories that will once again prove: SNAU is WOW!
