Unity through traditions: the charitable SNAU students’ Vertep

Published: January 1, 2026

On December 24–25, students of Sumy National Agrarian University walked around the university grounds with a festive charity nativity scene and visited local authorities and entrepreneurs. The Christmas event gave Sumy residents a sincere festive mood, warm live communication, and an atmosphere of Ukrainian traditions.

Such nativity scene performances have become a good tradition for SNAU students, which they have been supporting for more than three years in a row. The goal of this initiative is not only to promote Ukrainian culture and create a festive mood, but also to carry out an important charitable mission, which is particularly significant in these difficult times for the country.

As part of the Vertep, students visited locations not only with a vibrant theatrical and musical program, but also with a charity fundraiser. As a result, a record 21,000 hryvnas were raised, which will be directed to the most urgent needs. Reports on the use of funds will be published on the pages of the SNAU student government on social networks.

The charity collection was completed thanks to the sincere support of everyone visited by the student Vertep, in particular representatives of the administration and employees of the SNAU, the Department of Agricultural Development of the Sumy Regional State Administration, the Sumy District State Administration, the Main Directorate of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Sumy Region, the Sumy Regional Employment Centre, the Youth Policy Department of the Sumy City Council, the Romantika Youth Centre, the Ze!Molodizhka public organization, the Sumy branch of TASCOMBANK JSC, and the Stryha Leisure and Recreation Park.

The participants of the Vertep note that participating in such an event gave them powerful emotions, a sense of unity, and the realization that good deeds have double the power—first through joy and a festive mood, and then through real help to those in need. According to them, it is especially during the Christmas season that we want sincere joy, peace, justice, and faith in a better future for Ukraine and the world.

The university community sincerely thanks everyone who joined the charity Nativity play and is proud of the proactive, talented, and caring students of SNAU, who through their actions strengthen the values of mutual support, culture, and civic responsibility.
