Secluded Structural Departments of Sumy National Agrarian University — ‘Hlukhiv Agricultural Technical College of SNAU’ and ‘Romny Technical College of SNAU’got modern agricultural equipment as part of an international initiative to support agricultural education.
Future agricultural specialists will learn to operate modern tractors, seeders and cultivators equipped with GPS navigation, automatic control systems and precision farming technologies. The use of such equipment will significantly improve the level of practical training of students and ensure that the educational process meets the modern requirements of the agricultural market.
The equipment was transferred as part of the ‘Project to Promote Small-Scale Horticulture: Enhancing the Inclusiveness of Women Farmers,’ which is being implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
In total, 19 educational institutions in Ukraine got modern agricultural equipment as part of the project, including secluded structural departments of Sumy National Agrarian University. The initiative also provides for three training cycles for women farmers, veterans, internally displaced persons and novice farmers. The training programmes cover horticulture and driving theory for tractor drivers.
Currently, based on the results of the first training cycle, educational programmes are being improved and additional equipment necessary for practical training is being supplied. A study visit to Japan and online seminars for small farmers to exchange experiences are also planned.
The participation of secluded structural departments of Sumy National Agrarian University in the JICA project contributes to the development of professional and pre-higher education, the training of competitive specialists and the introduction of innovative approaches to the educational process, which is an important contribution to the sustainable development of Ukraine’s agricultural sector.
