The Academic Council of SNAU considered key issues of the university’s development

On February 27, 2026, Sumy National Agrarian University held a regular meeting of the Academic Council, during which a number of strategically important issues related to the educational, scientific, organizational, and financial and economic activities of the university were considered.

At the beginning of the meeting, the council members considered competitive matters and personnel issues, in particular, the awarding of the academic title of associate professor to Alexander Yurchenko, head of the Department of Energy and Electrical Engineering Systems, and the support of candidates for participation in scientific competitions. Scientific Secretary Anatoly Rozumenko reported on this issue.

Considerable attention was paid to the analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs) for 2025 by department heads, faculty deans, and directors of separate structural units—professional colleges of SNAU. Marharita Lyshenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific, Pedagogical, and Educational Work, delivered a report. Dean Natalia Bolhova reported separately on the results of the work of the Faculty of Food Technology, and Director Olha Rohovenko reported on the performance of the Sumy Professional Collge of SNAU.

The issue of preventing and detecting corruption was considered during the hearing and approval of the report for 2025. The speaker was Mykhailo Pyrkha, a leading expert on preventing and detecting corruption. The decisions adopted are aimed at ensuring transparency and adherence to the principles of academic integrity at the university.

Within the framework of the block of issues related to the organization of the educational process, recommendations for the publication of educational and methodological literature were considered, and regulations on the educational and production laboratory of adaptive vegetable growing of the Faculty of Agricultural Technologies and Environmental Management were approved. Margarita Lyshenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific, Pedagogical, and Educational Work, reported on these issues.

The issues of economic and economic activities were presented by Mykola Kovalenko, Vice-Rector for Economic and Economic Activities. The members of the Academic Council approved the budget of the SNAU student self-government for 2026, as well as a number of regulations governing the activities of the university’s structural units, in particular the student campus, the accounting service, the educational and scientific center, the operational and technical center, and the construction and technical supervision department.

A separate set of questions concerned scientific work. Yurii Danko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Activities, delivered a report. The Academic Council decided to approve one-time specialized academic councils for the defense of dissertations and internships. The issue of supporting the candidacy of Oksana Mykolaivna Datsko, PhD, senior lecturer at the Department of Agricultural Technology and Soil Science, with her scientific project “Monitoring and Remediation of Agricultural Land in the Frontline Zones of Ukraine” for participation in the competition for a grant from the President of Ukraine was also considered.

The decisions taken are aimed at improving the quality of educational activities, developing scientific potential, improving management processes, and ensuring the sustainable functioning of the university. The meeting of the Academic Council once again demonstrated the systematic work of the SNAU team on the implementation of strategic goals and the formation of prospects for the further development of
the university in 2026.
