On March 5–6, the international student scientific and practical conference GeoPoint 2026 took place in Kyiv at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. Students from Sumy National Agrarian University also participated in the event.
The conference brought together students, researchers, and professionals in the fields of geodesy, land management, and geoinformation technologies. The program included expert presentations, demonstrations of modern technologies, an exhibition of geodetic equipment, and workshops conducted by leading companies working in the field of geospatial technologies.
During the event participants had the opportunity to learn about the latest solutions in 3D scanning, photogrammetry, RTK technologies, and mobile mapping.
Sumy National Agrarian University was represented at the conference by students of the “Geodesy and Land Management” educational program: a third-year student Viktoriia Tokar and second-year students Daria Velykorod and Vitalina Lytvynenko.
During the scientific session the students presented their research titled “Restoration of Land Use After Hostilities: Environmental Restrictions and Sanitary Zones.” In their presentation they examined approaches to restoring territories affected by military actions, taking into account environmental risks, land-use restrictions, and the formation of sanitary protection zones.
According to the participants, taking part in the conference became an important professional experience and an opportunity to learn about the latest technologies in the field. In particular, they learned more about the use of RTK systems for obtaining highly accurate real-time coordinates, modern 3D scanning methods based on SLAM technology, as well as tools for mobile mapping and processing geospatial data. Special interest was generated by the workshops and demonstrations of modern geodetic equipment, where participants could observe the practical application of innovative technologies in professional activities.
The students noted that such events create opportunities for professional networking, exchange of experience, and communication with industry representatives, as well as open prospects for internships and future employment.
Participation in the international conference GeoPoint 2026 once again confirmed the high level of training of students of the “Geodesy and Land Management” program at SNAU, their scientific activity, and their interest in the development of modern geospatial technologies.
