SNAU joins the development of the national technology transfer network

Published: April 14, 2026

A strategic professional initiative has been launched in Ukraine — the Ukrainian Technology Transfer Alliance (UTTA) — which aims to bring together experts and organisations in the field of knowledge and technology transfer. The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and aims to create a unified platform for effective interaction between universities, research institutions, innovation bodies and business representatives. The Alliance’s main objective is to develop joint approaches to the implementation of innovations, exchange best practices and actively integrate the domestic scientific community into European professional networks.

The appointment of the leadership team for the new structure marked a significant milestone for our university. Yurii DANKO, Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs at SNAU, was elected to the UTTA Coordination Council. This underscores our institution’s high standing in the field of knowledge commercialisation and the recognition of our experts’ expertise at the national level.

The establishment of UTTA is a response to the critical challenges facing Ukrainian science: the fragmentation of the technology transfer system, the lack of uniform standards, and limited access to international networking. During the inaugural meeting, participants formally approved the Alliance’s Development Concept and Rules of Procedure, which will enable the creation of an effective mechanism for transforming scientific ideas into real technological solutions for the country’s economy. Representatives from higher education institutions, technology transfer centres and innovation offices, as well as experts and government officials, joined the discussion.

One of the key areas of development for the Alliance is seen as joining the ASTP (Association of Science and Technology Professionals) — a leading European association that has been bringing together over 1,100 specialists from more than 30 countries worldwide for 25 years. Collective membership in this organisation will give Ukrainian universities access to international study programmes, cutting-edge commercialisation case studies and participation in large-scale projects such as Horizon Europe, EIC and EIT.

It is worth noting that ASTP has already taken a step towards Ukrainian researchers by offering free digital membership to access webinars and educational events. Further alignment of UTTA work with European practices will help strengthen the professional community in Ukraine, enhance the effectiveness of research and development, and attract real investment in the development of university innovation
