Artificial Intelligence in the Academic World: SNAU Vice Rector Marharyta Lyshenko represented the University at an International Training Program in Warsaw

Published: April 14, 2026

Sumy National Agrarian University continues to confidently pursue a course of digitalization and the integration of cutting-edge technologies into the educational process. For two weeks, from March 15 to 29, Marharyta Lyshenko, Vice Rector for Scientific, Pedagogical, and Academic Affairs, participated in a prstigious international internship at the University of Warsaw.

The “Innovative University and Leadership” project, under which the internship took place, brought together true educational visionaries this year. The competition was extremely fierce: out of over 220 applications from representatives of Ukrainian higher education institutions, only 25 participants were selected. This level of interest stems from the highly relevant theme of the spring session—“Artificial Intelligence in the Academic World.”

The internship program at the University of Warsaw was highly intensive and focused on the practical application of artificial intelligence technologies as a key driver of higher education development. Working alongside leading experts, Margarita Lyshenko thoroughly explored the avenues for integrating AI into the educational process—from modernizing teaching practices to optimizing administrative management. Particular attention was paid to the methodology of next-generation scientific research, issues of academic integrity in the “post-plagiarism” era, as well as the ethical and legal aspects of using algorithms. The knowledge gained enabled the development of effective career strategies for the advancement of Ukrainian researchers in the global digital environment.

Leading experts, including Serhii Fedoniuk, Iryna Dehtiarova, Artem Artiukhov, Oleh Sharov, and other leaders of educational change, shared their experience and practical case studies with the participants.

The internship culminated in the presentation of group projects. Margarita Lyshenko represented the “Social Sciences and Management” group with an ambitious project titled “AI-Augmented University: Synergy of Technology and Expertise.” This project focuses on three strategic areas: management, quality, and science. Its main goal is to find the ideal balance between the capabilities of algorithms and human expertise to make the university’s operations more rational and efficient.

“I am proud to have the opportunity to represent SNAU at such a high level. The experience gained and the case studies developed will form the basis for a guide on the use of AI in higher education. We already have concrete initiatives that we will implement at our university to stay one step ahead in the era of digital transformation,” noted Marharyta Lyshenko.

Participation in the “Innovative University and Leadership” project hosted by the University of Warsaw marked another step in strengthening SNAU’s international network of educational leaders. The high level of organization of the event allowed participants to fully focus on the strategic challenges of digital transformation.

The outcomes of the internship are not merely official recognition of qualifications, but above all practical tools that will serve as the foundation for implementing global best practices in the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process, research activities, and university management.
