Representatives from SNAU took part in a discussion on academic integrity and the use of AI

On 14 May 2026, an in-person event organised by the StrikePlagiarism.com team took place in Lviv, combining a workshop and a round-table discussion. Participants discussed topical issues of academic integrity, liability for plagiarism, the interpretation of academic text verification results, as well as new challenges associated with the use of artificial intelligence tools in the educational environment.

Almost 100 participants from various regions of Ukraine took part in the event. Sumy National Agrarian University was represented by specialists from the Department of Educational Quality, Licensing and Accreditation. Participation in such a professional discussion is important for the further improvement of internal procedures to ensure academic integrity and the quality of education at the university.

During the meeting, particular attention was paid to modern approaches to detecting academic plagiarism, the appropriate use of AI in teaching and research, and accountability for breaches of academic integrity. Representatives of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, Leontiy SHYPILOV and Nataliya BATSAK, outlined current approaches to academic integrity procedures and accountability for breaches thereof.

Participants were also introduced to the updated similarity report from StrikePlagiarism.com, the capabilities of LMS-integrations for automating the checking of academic work, and the stylometry module, which enables the analysis of an author’s style and can be useful when verifying the authorship of texts.

A separate section of the event was devoted to the issues of invigilation and monitoring of remote assessment. A representative from SMOWL presented international approaches to organising online monitoring, which is particularly relevant given the growth of remote and blended learning.

The participation of representatives from the SNAU in the event will help to strengthen the institutional culture of academic integrity, improve procedures for reviewing academic texts, and introduce modern digital tools to support the quality of the educational process.
