International cooperation for environmental restoration of SNAU in the REBOUND project

From May 27 to 30, 2026, representatives of Sumy National Agrarian University: Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Chemistry Vladyslav Kovalenko and Professor of the Department of Public Management and Administration Tetiana Kharchenko took part in an international seminar within the framework of the project “Renewable Economy and Network Development for Ecosystem Restoration in Post-Conflict Ukraine” (REBOUND), which was held at the University of Life Sciences of Iasi (Iasi University of Life Sciences, Romania).

The event brought together representatives of leading European and Ukrainian educational institutions, scientific institutions and partner organizations. The work of the international project team was joined by specialists from Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (Germany), Iasi University of Life Sciences (Romania), Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA, Norway), DEKONTA company (Czech Republic), Sumy National Agrarian University, National University of Bioresources and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine and National University of Water Management and Environmental Sciences.

As part of the seminar, participants held a series of panel discussions and working meetings dedicated to the implementation of individual project areas. The main focus was on the formation of approaches to ecosystem restoration, assessment of the consequences of military impact on the environment, and development of effective mechanisms for post-war restoration of Ukraine’s natural resources.

Based on the results of joint work, the participants substantiated the structure and key tasks of the project work packages, developed approaches to assessing social, economic, and environmental impacts, and identified priority areas for the formation of national policies in the field of environmental restoration and sustainable development.

Participation in the REBOUND project opens up new opportunities for international scientific cooperation, exchange of experience, and implementation of best European practices in the field of ecological restoration of territories affected by the war.

SNAU expresses its sincere gratitude to the project partners for fruitful cooperation, professional dialogue, and joint work on finding effective solutions for ecosystem restoration and sustainable development of Ukraine.
