Knowledge for farmers: SNAU has launched a free online course for farmers

Published: June 29, 2026

Sumy National Agrarian University, together with partners from the United Kingdom and Switzerland, has launched a free online course titled “Sustainable Farming: Technologies, Profit, Innovation.” It is symbolic that this educational project was announced on June 17, 2026, at the Agro Ukraine Summit—the very venue where its primary target audience had gathered: Ukrainian farmers, entrepreneurs, and industry experts.

This course is the result of a strong international collaboration between SNAU, the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) in the United Kingdom, and the Bern University of Applied Sciences (Switzerland). The main goal of the partnership is to provide Ukrainian producers with practical tools for business development amid environmental and military challenges.

Farming, even in peacetime, requires total dedication and time, and in today’s reality, the workload and responsibilities of farmers have at least doubled. Managing a farm amid constant security and economic risks is a daily challenge, where every mistake costs profit. That is precisely why this course was developed as a practical guide for professionals. Its goal is not to overwhelm participants with theory, but to support real-world producers, help them update their basic management tools, and guide them toward modern technologies that enable significant savings in time and resources where it once seemed impossible.

The course curriculum consists of highly substantive modules covering three main areas:

  • Technology: How to adapt farms to climate change, preserve soil fertility, and optimize resource use.
  • Profit: Effective business models, risk management, securing financing, and entering new markets.
  • Innovation: Implementing precision farming, digital tools, and modern eco-solutions that help reduce costs.

The presentation of the course at the Agro Ukraine Summit generated considerable interest among visitors to the university’s booth. Farmers and business leaders responded positively to this format, as it allows them to quickly obtain ready-to-use guidelines for modernizing their farms.

A quality education is the foundation of an effective business. SNAU strives not only to share theory but also to provide Ukrainian farmers with real support right now.
