Quality of education, student safety, and university sustainability are the topics that today determine the future of Ukrainian higher education. This is what the participants of the International Educational Forum-Workshop “Education as a Platform for Resilience and Restoration of Ukraine” talked about, which took place in Uzhgorod on June 25–26.
Sumy National Agrarian University was presented at the forum by Marharyta Lyshenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific, Pedagogical, and Educational Work. During a strategic panel dedicated to the role of educational institutions in the restoration of front-line regions, she presented the experience of SNAU in a report “Quality and Safety of the Educational Process in Front-line Higher Education Institutions: the Experience of Sumy National Agrarian University.”
SNAU is a university that operates in a region that faces the challenges of war every day. That is why the experience of organizing a safe educational environment, supporting students and teachers, and maintaining high standards of education aroused keen interest among the forum participants.
Over two days, over 100 representatives from nine countries discussed what education should be like to help the country survive and recover. The focus was on supporting universities in frontline regions, developing international academic mobility, new opportunities for Erasmus+ and Twinning programs, and effective cooperation between universities, communities, the state, and international partners.
For SNAU, participating in such professional platforms is an opportunity not only to adopt the best international practices, but also to show that Ukrainian universities, even in extremely difficult conditions, can be a source of stability, development, and qualitative change.
