More than a thousand first-year students at SNAU began their studies not only with pairs and a schedule. The first week became for them an introduction to the university, people, opportunities, and an atmosphere that is gradually becoming familiar.
From August 31 to September 4, SNAU held its First-Year Students Week. Over five days, new students had time to get to know their faculties, complete a university quest, learn more about student life, meet creative and sports teams, compete in quizzes, and simply spend time together.
The university deliberately made this start eventful: the first days of study are not only about where to find the right audience. It is about the feeling that you are already part of a large community.
The first day, first-year students spent together with representatives of their faculties — in a mixed format, offline in shelters and online on Zoom. The students were addressed by SNAU Rector Ihor Kovalenko and Student Rector Andrii Makarenko. Deans, student deans and heads of student trade unions told the freshmen about their studies, the features of educational programs, the work of student self-government and the opportunities that university life offers.
The game “SNAU QUEST: LEVEL 1” became a real test of teamwork. The freshmen set off to get to know the territory of SNAU and student self-government, completing tasks for logic, interaction and ingenuity. Each faculty prepared its own location, so the participants had to not only quickly find solutions, but also learn more about the specialties and features of the university.
And most importantly, in one day, students from different faculties managed to get to know each other, communicate and work as one team.
The most active teams received gift certificates to the Silpo network from the primary trade union organization of SNAU students and postgraduates.
Thursday showed the freshmen of SNAU that university life is not limited to studying. The university’s creative teams told about themselves – the exemplary ensemble of modern ballroom dance SWAY, the folk dance ensemble “Vesna” and the school of modern dance “MovaTila”. Sports sections and an equestrian club presented their capabilities. The meeting was joined by the student administration, the trade union, the social and psychological service and the department for organizing educational work with students. And the day ended with a cozy movie evening with a viewing of “Luxembourg, Luxembourg”, snacks and communication.
The acquaintance was not limited to offline events. During the week, freshmen were waiting for separate activities on SNAU social networks.
A quiz was published daily on the university’s Telegram channel with a chance to win a branded gift from SNAU. The Media Center also announced a TikTok video competition about entering the university, which will last until September 11. The winner will receive a secret prize from the rector.
“It is extremely pleasant for us to see these young faces in the native walls of SNAU and to understand that more than a thousand people have chosen our university. The quality of education and comfortable and safe conditions are a priority for us. I hope that this year’s entrants feel this right now, getting to know SNAU,” said Rector Ihor Kovalenko.
The first week has ended, but the acquaintance is just beginning. Ahead are studies, new friends, first professional discoveries, scientific research, creative projects, sports and many moments that will later become university memories.
