On the eve of the New Year’s holidays, the final meeting of the Association of Livestock and Poultry Breeding of the Sumy region on dairy cattle breeding was held in the walls of the Sumy National Agrarian University.
The event was moderated by Oleksandr Maslak, the Director of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Sumy Regional State Administration.
Taras Savchenko, the First Deputy Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, gave an opening speech. The representative of the authorities expressed his opinion regarding the development of the livestock sector in the Sumy region. Taras Savchenko mentioned moments of cooperation between representatives of the educational field of work, regional leadership and businessmen. In addition, he discussed with those present aspects of the implementation of projects that support the development of the livestock sector in the zone of active hostilities.
Oleksandr Maslak reported on the state of dairy farming in Sumy region, and emphasized the main problems of the industry’s functioning. In addition, he showed Internet resources where you can read information about the support of farmers in wartime.
The Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Rector of Sumy National Agrarian University Volodymyr Ladyka raised the issue of improving the gene pool of dairy cattle breeding. He drew the attention of those present to the topic of breed structures, subjects of breeding affairs, genetic resources of the Sumy Breeding Center. Volodymyr Ladyka proposed a model of a breeding consortium of Sumy region, consisting of SNAU, the Association of Livestock and Poultry Breeders of Sumy Region, the Sumy Breeding Center, a new genetic perspective, the Ukrainian Genetics Company and international partners.
The Head of the Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine Department of the Main Department of the State Production and Consumer Service in the Sumy Region, Viktor Naumenko, discussed with the audience the topic of the epizootic situation and the safety of livestock farms during emergency situations.
