Academic Council of 26.05.2025

On 26 May 2025, a regular meeting of the Academic Council was held at Sumy National Agrarian University. This time, the key issues on the agenda were the international activities of the university and the results of educational work at SNAU and its colleges. The participants of the meeting had the opportunity to get acquainted with the scale of achievements of the university community, which is working daily to strengthen its international presence, introduce innovative approaches to teaching and education of students, as well as to preserve and increase the scientific potential of Ukraine.

On the occasion of the Day of Science in Ukraine, the Rector of SNAU, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Ihor KOVALENKO addressed the members of the Academic Council with words of gratitude to the scientists for their tireless work and significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian education and science. During the ceremony, state and regional awards were presented, which became a symbol of high appreciation of the professional achievements of the university community.

Among the awardees are:

Honourable Mention of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine ‘Excellence in Education’ was given to Olena NIFATOVA, Professor of the Department of Marketing and Logistics.
Certificate of Honour of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine was given to Olena MELNYK, Senior Researcher at the Research and Development Centre.
Acknowledgements of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine were given to Oleksandr SOLARIOV, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Transport; Olesia KISTERNA, Associate Professor of the Department of Therapy, Pharmacology, Clinical Diagnostics and Chemistry.
Diplomas from the Head of Sumy Regional State Administration were given to Nataliia BOLHOVA, Dean of the Faculty of Food Technologies; Tetiana KHARCHENKO, Associate Professor of the Department of Public Management and Administration.
Diplomas of the Head of Sumy Regional Council were given to Nataliia KAPINOS, Head of the Department of Geodesy and Land Management; Oleksandr NOVYTSKYI, Head of the Department of
Construction and Operation of Buildings, Roads and Road Constructions.
Diplomas of the Mayor were given to Viktoriia SKLIAR, Head of the Department of Ecology and Botany; Iryna SKLIAR, Professor of the Department of Management.
Diplomas of the Department of Education and Science of Sumy Regional State Administration were given to Nataliia VOLCHENKO, Head of the Department of International Relations; Maryna BILOTSERKOVETS, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages; Anna BARSUKOVA, Associate Professor of the Department of Energy and Electrical Systems; Inna ZUBTSOVA, Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology and Botany; Serhii HORBAS, Associate Professor of the Department of Garden Design and Forestry; Liudmyla VARENYK, post-graduate student of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

The university is particularly proud of its achievements in the Petro Yatsyk International Ukrainian Language Competition. The winners were: Svitlana SHESTAKOVA, Head of the Department of State Law and Ukrainian Studies. Anna SKOCHKO, a student of the Law Faculty, who won the third degree diploma in the third stage of the competition.

One of the key issues of the meeting was the report of Yurii DANKO, Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Work, who analysed in detail the results of the implementation of the strategy for the internationalisation of education at SNAU. He emphasised that the university is confidently strengthening its position in the international arena due to consistent growth in world rankings, an increase in the number of foreign students, in particular from China, and active participation in international research projects. The discussion identified key tasks that will allow the university to maintain its leading position among Ukrainian higher education institutions and develop in line with global trends.


Viktoriia ZIARNA, Head of the Department for the Organisation of Educational Work, presented a thorough report on the implementation of measures aimed at forming a fully developed student personality. Considerable attention was paid to supporting students from socially vulnerable categories, intensifying career guidance activities in cooperation with separate units, developing academic self- government and partnership projects.


Olena BEHMENKO, the new director of the library, was unanimously appointed to the Academic Council. It was also decided to award associate professorships to Valentyna NEZHEVELO (Department of Public and Social Law) and Oleksandr SAVOISKYI (Department of Energy and Electrical Engineering Systems).
