Academic Council of 27.08.2025

On August 27, Sumy National Agrarian University held the first meeting of the Academic Council, which marked the beginning of the new academic year 2025-2026.

The event began with a minute of silence in memory of the defenders who died defending Ukraine. We are aware of the situation in Sumy region, and we are working despite the challenges of our time. Rector of Sumy National University Ihor Kovalenko addressed the audience with a welcoming speech: “Despite the shelling and all the difficulties, we will win. We have already won because we are here, we are developing and reaching new heights. Let’s develop and maintain stability. I wish the best university in the world and everyone in our big family well.”

The Academic Council, which started the new academic year, became a place to summarize the results of the previous one and to celebrate the significant achievements of our academic staff, partners and students.

The event began with the presentation to Igor Mykolayovych of a certificate of appreciation from the Sumy Regional Organization of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine for the high level of social partnership with the sectoral trade union and for the first place in the All-Ukrainian competition for the best collective agreement in the public sector. Natalia Kolodnenko, chairman of the trade union of Sumy NAU, was also awarded for her conscientious public work and skilful organization of effective and productive trade union activities.

A ceremony was also held to present diplomas from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to academic staff for high achievements and recognition of the university’s activities at the national and international levels, as well as effective administrative management. Head of the Department of Ecology and Botany Viktoria Skliar, Associate Professor of the Department of Agricultural Technology and Soil Science Andrii Butenko, and Head of the Department of Food Technology and Safety Maryna Samilyk were awarded.

Olha Bakumenko, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technologies and Environmental Management, Svitlana Lukash, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Natalia Makarenko, Head of the Department of Marketing and Logistics, and Roman Petrov, Head of the Department of Veterinary and Sanitary Inspection, Hygiene and Pathological Anatomy were awarded letters of appreciation from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Larysa Kalachevska, Professor of the Department of Public Management and Administration of the SNAU, was awarded a diploma of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Mykola Povod, Professor of the Department of Feed Technology and Animal Nutrition, was awarded a letter of thanks from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

We sincerely congratulate Anatolii Rozumenko, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Higher Mathematics, Secretary of the Academic Council, on receiving a certificate of inclusion in the Pedagogical Pride of Sumy Region Honor Roll.

Andrii Boyar, a student of the Law Faculty, was added to the Sumy Region’s record book for his significant achievements in his brilliant sports career.

The audience had a great opportunity to congratulate our students on their victory in the third stage of the XV International Literary and Language Contest for Pupils and Students named after Taras Shevchenko, namely students of the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Technologies – Tetiana Hatsenko and Yulia Tiazhkun.

Inna Kharchenko, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of State Legal Disciplines and Ukrainian Studies, was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Department of Education and Science of the Sumy Regional State Administration for her diligent work, fostering a respectful attitude to the Ukrainian language among the younger generation, and training the winners of the competition.

The Rector of the SNAU presented the professor and associate professors with certificates: Oleh Rohovenko, Dean of the Law Faculty, received a certificate of academic rank of Professor of the Department of Administrative and Information Law; Oleksandr Savoisky was awarded the academic rank of Associate Professor of Energy and Electrical Systems; and Valentyna Nezhevelo was awarded the academic rank of Associate Professor of the Department of Private and Social Law.

The best academic staff of the university were awarded for their perseverance, professionalism and love for their work to Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor of the Department of State Law and Ukrainian Studies Natalia Bondar and Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Surgery, Oksana Shkromada.

The best students of the faculties during the academic year 2024-2025 were recognized for significant achievements in education, scientific endeavors and social activity: Denys Ponomarenko, Yelyzaveta Malkova, Kateryna Biziukova, Kateryna Tsarkova, Dmytro Baburov, Veronika Sheludchenko, Anastasiia Bushneva and Andrii Kolodnenko.

Andrii Stavytskyi, Director of the Okhtyrka Vocational College of Sumy National Agrarian University, was awarded the Best Institution of Professional Higher Education.

Also, special awards were given to those without whom the activities of the SNAU would not be so effective – our stakeholders, good partners and good friends of the institution: Andrii Rybalko, Director of MHP – Urozhayna Kraina LLC; Volodymyr Zubko, Director of Komyshanske; Oleksandr Miroshnichenko, Director of Slobozhanshchyna Agro; and Viktor Gala, owner of Kozatska Agrofirm LLC.

The solemn dedication of the first-year students touched many of those present: new representatives of each faculty, ambitious and purposeful young students said the words of the oath of the student of the SNAU and shared with the audience their aspirations for the development of their chosen specialties.

Upon completion of the award ceremonies, the discussion of the agenda items began:

  • Rector of the University Ihor Kovalenko reported on the prospects for the work of the University
  • Complex of the SNAU in the academic year 2025-2026.
  • The Chairman of the Academic Council Volodymyr Ladyka presented the composition and work plan of the Council for the academic year 2025-2026.
  • Vice-Rector for Scientific, Pedagogical and Academic Work Marharyta Lyshenko reported on: approval of project groups; transfer of the speciality “Tourism and Recreation” from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology to the Faculty of Food Technology; reorganization of the departments of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology; approval of the Regulations on Planning and Accounting for the Scientific and Pedagogical Work of the Faculty; approval of the provisions governing educational work at the university.
  • Vice-Rector for Economic and Business Activities Mykola Kovalenko informed about the approval of the Regulations of the Commission for Providing Financial Assistance to Employees of the SNAU.
  • Vice-Rector for Research and International Activities Yurii Danko spoke on the organization of scientific work.

Sumy National Agrarian University sincerely thanks the entire academic community and partners for their fruitful work, dedication and support. The achievements of teachers and students are the result of daily systematic work that strengthens the position of the university in the Ukrainian and international educational space. We wish everyone even more significant achievements in the new academic year.
