Academic Integrity Week at SNAU: Honest Education as the Norm

From November 24 to 28, 2025, Sumy National Agrarian University hosted the Academic Integrity Week – a cycle of information and educational events aimed at forming a culture of honest learning, responsible use of sources, and the development of academic ethics. For five days, applicants, scientific and pedagogical workers, and other participants in the educational process participated in discussions, lectures, master classes, and interacted in an open dialogue format.

For SNAU, as a leading university, adherence to the principles of academic integrity is a fundamental factor in training highly qualified specialists in agricultural, economic, legal, humanitarian, and other fields. Honesty, transparency, respect for authorship, and responsibility for learning outcomes from the professional reputation of applicants and determine the quality of university education.

The Week discussed topics such as correct citation, copyright, mechanisms for combating plagiarism, responsible use of artificial intelligence, academic ethics, and ways to form a university culture of integrity. Separately, participants took part in mini-actions “5 minutes about integrity” and a questionnaire, which allowed assessing the level of awareness of students and teachers.

The speakers of the events were Dmytro Chumachenko — Head of the “Education and Science” Subcommittee of the Expert and Consultative Committee on AI Development under the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine; Artem Artyukhov — Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Head of the Ethics Committee; Svitlana Shestakova — Candidate of Philological Sciences, Head of the Department of State and Legal Disciplines and Ukrainian Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Also, the week held a quiz battle “Academic Integrity at 100%” and an open discussion with the student group, “Academic Integrity Without Adornments”.

The organization of all activities was provided by the Department of Education Quality, Licensing and Accreditation of Sumy National Agrarian University, which coordinated the program, information support and interaction of participants.

Olena Rybina, Head of the Department of Education Quality, Licensing and Accreditation of SNAU, emphasized:
Academic integrity is not a challenge, but an indispensable tool in the formation of a quality educational environment. Partnership with professionals and systematic education of the university community are an effective lever in changing the level of awareness, which helps us move forward confidently.
