On August 29, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Denys Kurbatov visited Sumy National Agrarian University. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize himself with the scientific potential of the university and its modern research infrastructure.
During the visit, the distinguished guest inspected the Centre for the Collective Use of Scientific Equipment for the Latest Agricultural Technologies – the Laboratory of Ecological Farming and Nature Management. Denys Kurbatov paid special attention to the Laboratory for the Study of the Chemical State of Soils, where analyses important for the sustainable development of agriculture are carried out.
The Deputy Minister was also introduced to the breeding varieties of potatoes developed by the University, which play an important role in ensuring food security in Ukraine.
A separate part of the program was a visit to the university’s veterinary clinic, where the socially important Cat project is being implemented. More than 3,500 surgeries have already been performed here for cats and dogs, including animals rescued from war zones.
It is worth noting that higher education and research institutions have recently been certified in Ukraine based on the results of their scientific activities, and Sumy National Agrarian University received the highest category, confirming its status as a leading institution, and the university reached category A in the field of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences.
After the tour of the laboratories and clinic, a meeting was held with the administration of the SNAU. Denys Kurbatov made a presentation on the current priorities and steps of the Ministry of Education and Science in the field of science and innovation, and answered questions from university representatives.
