In loving memory of Volodymyr Maksymovych Kokhanovskyi

Published: June 3, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the irreparable loss of our colleague, a dedicated scientist, talented teacher, renowned expert in the field of horticulture and landscape design, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Horticulture and Forestry at Sumy National Agrarian University Volodymyr Maksymovych Kokhanovskyi.

Volodymyr Maksymovych was not only a highly professional teacher, but also a true enthusiast of his work, an inspirer and creator of the unique space of our university. It was his ideas that formed the basis for the landscaping of the SNAU territory, which today is one of the most beautiful landmarks of Sumy.

His contribution to the creation of the SNAU arboretum — a living laboratory, the green pearl of the university — is invaluable. This place has become a symbol of comfort, inspiration and love for nature for students, teachers and everyone who visited the university.

Let us recall that in 2021, Volodymyr Maksymovych was awarded an honorary scholarship from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for outstanding achievements in the field of higher education. It was a well-deserved recognition of his many years of work, his tireless dedication to the training of highly qualified specialists, and his generous contribution to the development of higher education in Ukraine.

Volodymyr Maksymovych worked at Sumy NAU since the establishment of the Department of Horticulture and Forestry. He left a lasting impression on his colleagues, students and graduates, who will always remember him as a kind, sincere person, ready to support, advise and inspire new achievements.

The bright memory of Volodymyr Maksymovych Kokhanovskyі will live on in our hearts, in his scientific works, publications, textbooks, in every tree and bush planted by his hands, in every corner of the SNAU arboretum, which bears the mark of his talent, labour and love for nature.

Our sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and the entire university community. Bright memory and eternal respect to Volodymyr Maksymovych.
