On September 18, 2025, the grand opening of the Library Gallery land art gallery took place in the library of Sumy National Agrarian University. The event brought together creative youth, artists and connoisseurs of contemporary art, becoming a landmark event in the cultural life of the university and the city.
Land art is an artistic movement that emerged in the late 1960s in the United States and is based on the harmonious combination of works with the natural environment. For Sumy, land art is of particular importance, as the city has long been known as one of the centers of development of this trend in Ukraine, which contributes to the formation of creative space and cultural identity of the region.
Hanna Hidora and Hryhorii Protasov organized the event. Famous artists presented their works live during the gallery opening: Natalia Kokhan, Oleh Kokhan, Karolina Mozgova, Sviatoslav Korsun, Ihor Shvachunov. Their works became a real decoration of the event and gave the audience new emotions and impressions. Organizing artistic events is important even in times of war, as they support spiritual resilience, promote community unity and provide space for creative expression.
It is an honor for Sumy National Agrarian University to become a location for so much creativity and artistic exploration. This is an invaluable experience that emphasizes the university’s openness to innovative cultural practices and inspires further development.
We remind you that the gallery will be open for visits until October 10, so be sure to visit!
