Nahorna Lyudmyla

Dean of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

Professor at the Department of Veterinary Sanitary Examination, Microbiology, Animal Hygiene, and Safety and Quality of Livestock Products, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor.

Born in the village of Khomutets, Myrhorod district, Poltava region. In 2006, she graduated with honors from the Poltava State Agrarian Academy with a degree in veterinary medicine. In 2009, she defended her PhD dissertation at the Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnologies, and in 2017, she obtained her Doctor of Sciences degree in the specialty “Parasitology.”

She works in the field of veterinary medicine and teaches disciplines related to veterinary hygiene and sanitation. Her main research focus is the prevention and control of parasitic diseases in animals, as well as animal welfare in industrial livestock farming. She completed internships at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NUBiP) and in Polish educational institutions.

General information

She was born in the village of Khomutets, Myrhorod district, Poltava region.

In 1996, she graduated from Khomutets Secondary School I–III levels. In 2000, she completed her studies at the Khomutets Veterinary and Zootechnical College, receiving a diploma with honors in the specialty of Veterinary Medicine Assistant. In 2006, she graduated with honors from the Poltava State Agrarian Academy with a degree in Veterinary Medicine.

After graduating from the academy, she worked as a veterinarian at the “Batkivshchyna” Agricultural Cooperative in Poltava region.

In 2009, she completed her postgraduate studies at Sumy National Agrarian University and defended her dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Veterinary Sciences in the specialty 16.00.04 – Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnologies named after S.Z. Gzhytskyi.

Since 2010, she has been working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise, Microbiology, Animal Hygiene, and Safety and Quality of Livestock Products.

From 2013 to 2016, she pursued doctoral studies at Sumy National Agrarian University.

In 2017, at the Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnologies named after S.Z. Gzhytskyi, she defended her doctoral dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Sciences in the specialty 16.00.11 – Parasitology.

Educational and scientific activity

Research Focus:

Development of methods for the prevention and control of endo- and ectoparasitic diseases in productive animals with the aim of ensuring safe livestock products. Study of animal welfare issues in the conditions of modern industrial livestock farming.
