Serhii Horbas

Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technologies and Environmental Management

Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor.

Born on August 18, 1983 in the village of Nyzhnya Syrovatka, Sumy region, Sumy district. Graduated from Sumy National Agrarian University in 2005, majoring in Agronomy, and received the qualification of Master of Science in Agronomy. In 2014, he became a Candidate of Agricultural Sciences.

Worked at Sumy National Agrarian University, held various scientific and pedagogical positions. Has over 70 scientific works, including manuals, monographs, and articles in scientometric databases. Participant in numerous international conferences.

General information

Born on August 18, 1983 in the village of Nyzhnya Syrovatka, Sumy region, Sumy district.

1999-2003 – studied at the Malovystoropsk Agrarian Technical School named after P.S. Rybalka.

2003-2005 – studied at the Sumy National Agrarian University. 2008-2010 – studied at the postgraduate course at the Sumy National Agrarian University, specialty “breeding and seed production”.

2014 – defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Agricultural Sciences on the topic “Potential of interspecific potato hybrids in terms of productivity and value for practical selection”.

In 2018, he graduated from the Uman National University of Horticulture and received a full higher education in the specialty “Horticulture and Viticulture” and obtained a master’s degree.

In 2021, he was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor at the Department of Horticulture and Forestry.

From 2006 to 2025, he worked as an assistant, senior lecturer, and associate professor at the Sumy National Agrarian University.

From September 1, 2025, he was appointed to the position of Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technologies and Environmental Management of the Sumy National Agrarian University.

Educational and scientific activities

During the period of scientific and pedagogical activity, he has published more than 70 scientific and scientific-methodical works, including 3 textbooks, 5 monographs, 4 articles in publications indexed by the scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science. He participated in more than 20 scientific conferences in Ukraine, Belarus, Germany, Poland, Romania, the USA and other countries. Performer of scientific and research topics.

He underwent internships:

  • In 2018, he passed an internship at WEIHENSTEPHAN-TRIESDORF UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES.
  • In 2019, he improved his qualifications at the National University of Bioresources and Environmental Management of Ukraine. Certificate of advanced training SS0493706/009447-19.
  • In 2020, he passed an internship at the ACADEMY OF MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION IN OPOLE (Poland).
