Scientists from Europe and Asia joined forces at SNAU to find solutions in the field of veterinary medicine

On November 28, 2025 Sumy National Agrarian University hosted an international scientific and practical conference entitled ‘Innovative Approaches in Veterinary Medicine: Control of Contagious and Non-Contagious Animal Diseases,’ dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of Professor Andriy Volodymyrovych Berezovskyi. The purpose of the event was to discuss modern approaches to veterinary medicine, search for effective solutions to ensure biosafety and improve the quality of veterinary services in the world.

Professor Andriy Berezovskyi is a Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, an outstanding scientist and lecturer at the SNAU, who has devoted his life to the development of the industry. His scientific activity covers the fields of microbiology, veterinary and sanitary control, hygiene and safety of livestock products. The professor is the author of fundamental works that have significantly influenced the development of veterinary science in Ukraine and enriched international research experience in the areas of zoonosis control, biosafety and food quality.

The conference organising committee was headed by SNAU Rector Ihor KOVALENKO. The deputy chairpersons were Yuriy DANKO, Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Activities at SNAU; Shamsullo IZATULLO, Professor at Tajik Agricultural University; Volodymyr STIBEL, Director of the State Scientific and Research Institute of Animal Husbandry and a corresponding member of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine; and Lyudmila NAHORNA, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at SNAU. Representatives from Great Britain, Norway, the Czech Republic, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Ukraine took part in the conference.

Ihor KOVALENKO, the Rector of SNAU, emphasised that holding such a scientific forum is an extremely important mechanism for finding common solutions through international dialogue. He stressed that for the university, as one of Ukraine’s leading agricultural higher education institutions, cooperation with scientists around the world and the consolidation of efforts in key areas of research are strategic priorities.

Conference participants discussed a wide range of topical issues, including biosafety and animal health, the latest advances in veterinary surgery and obstetrics, the implementation of the ‘One Health’ concept, legal aspects of veterinary medicine, and food quality and safety control based on HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) principles.

In conclusion, participants noted the high level of organisation of the event and the practical significance of the research presented. The conference became an important platform for the exchange of international experience and the formation of new professional ties, which will contribute to the further development of veterinary science and strengthen the position of the SNAU on the educational and scientific map of the world.
