On the 28th of September, 2022 a meeting with the delegation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) took place at Sumy National Agrarian University, which included FAO international expert on development programs Joseph Astrella, FAO-GEF Project Coordinator Oleksandr Zhuravel, FAO specialist in cash and voucher issues assistance Dmytro Radko, Executive Director of the Association of Rural, Settlement and United Communities of Ukraine, implementing partner of FAO Natalia Kliuchnyk.
The event was attended by the representatives of the authorities, in particular, Deputy Head of the Sumy Regional State Administration Taras Savchenko, Director of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of Sumy Regional State Oleksandr Maslak, Deputy Director of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of Sumy Regional State OleksandrButyrskii, as well as representatives of agrarian business and executive bodies of territorial communities.
During the business meeting, the participants discussed the problems and challenges of martial law for farmers and methods of overcoming them. The issues of meeting the needs of seed material, providing fodder, introducing vouchers for 300 US dollars for the repair and reconstruction of premises for keeping domestic animals, and the purchase of equipment for grain storage were discussed. In addition, they actively discussed the prospects of further projects to ensure the stable operation of agricultural enterprises of Sumy region.
During the introductory tour of Sumy National Agrarian University, guests were presented with a centre for collective use of scientific equipment, a greenhouse complex, a vivarium, an indoor training ground and other scientific and educational facilities.
Thus, the guests held a final meeting with the university management, summed up the results of the meeting and defined goals for further projects, discussed the strategy and progress of implementation, and shared their impressions of cooperation.
