SNAU opens “Paints of the East,” a cultural event with a charitable purpose

Published: February 9, 2026

A charity exhibition of traditional Chinese painting, “Colors of the East” by artist Zhang Jiping, has opened at Sumy National Agrarian University. The exhibition features works created using the technique of classical Chinese ink painting on rice paper, revealing the depth of Eastern artistic tradition and its contemporary interpretation.

Zhang Jiping is an artist and calligrapher who lives in Beijing and has devoted her creative work to the study and development of traditional Chinese painting. A special place in her work is occupied by large-scale compositions depicting flowers, birds, and landscapes, which combine a refined classical technique with a subtle sense of space and rhythm.

The artist’s creative principle — “do whatever you want, without crossing the line” — reflects her desire to preserve the spirit of traditional Chinese painting while integrating it with contemporary aesthetics. Zhang Zhiping finds inspiration in everyday life, and her works convey not only careful observation of nature, but also a deep philosophical understanding of human existence.

The exhibition has a charitable purpose: the works on display are available for purchase, and all proceeds will be donated to local teams. In this way, art becomes an instrument of support and solidarity, combining cultural exchange with real good deeds.

The charity exhibition of traditional Chinese painting “Colours of the East” will run at Sumy National Agrarian University until 8 March 2026. The university invites students, teachers and guests to join the cultural dialogue and support the charity initiative.
