Sumy National Agrarian University has become one of five Ukrainian higher education institutions participating in the project “Energy Saving and Energy Consumption Monitoring in University Buildings.” The project runs from September 2025 to November 2026 and its goal is to introduce modern energy monitoring systems and increase the efficiency of energy use in educational institutions.
The project is implemented by the public organization “School of Energy Efficiency” within the framework of the IKI Small Grants program, which supports initiatives in the fields of climate stability and energy independence. Its main objective is to create an automated system for monitoring energy consumption in pilot buildings of five Ukrainian universities. This system will help reduce energy consumption and decrease greenhouse gas emissions.
The initiative is being implemented in four key areas:
Besides, energy innovation hubs are also universities in Kyiv, Lutsk, Mykolaiv, and Chernivtsi that have joined the project. Together they form a national network of pilot sites that will implement modern energy management solutions.
For Sumy National Agrarian University, participation in this project represents an opportunity to improve the energy efficiency of academic buildings, create a platform for practical training of students in the field of sustainable development, and contribute to the formation of a new culture of rational use of resources in the educational environment.
SNAU continues to implement energy-innovative approaches, taking into account scientific potential, educational mission and striving to environmental responsibility.
