In September, a new four-year European project COST Action CA24140 “One Health Zoonotic Hepevirus Network (ONWARD)” began its work, aimed at creating an interdisciplinary platform for the study of zoonotic hepeviruses, uniting scientists from different countries and strengthening cooperation between laboratories, veterinary and medical institutions. A representative of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Sumy National Agrarian University, Yevheniia Dudnyk, joined this initiative, who became an official member of the Management Committee from Ukraine.
The European COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) program supports scientists by creating networks of cooperation, exchanging experience and developing professional contacts between universities and research centers. Although COST Actions do not fund experimental research, they provide access to internships, visits to partner laboratories, participation in working groups, trainings and international scientific events.
The ONWARD project aims to form a strong research network operating within the One Health paradigm and focusing on the diagnosis and spread of zoonotic hepaviruses in humans, animals and the environment. Participants join forces to improve methods for detection, risk assessment and preparation for new challenges in the field of public and veterinary health.
The involvement of a representative of SNAU in the ONWARD project strengthens the international scientific presence of the university, expands opportunities for professional cooperation and contributes to the development of competencies in the field of veterinary medicine and One Health. SNAU continues to support the participation of its employees in international initiatives aimed at strengthening scientific ties and increasing the role of Ukrainian science at the European level.
