From December 12 to 14, the IX Congress of the Public Union “Ukrainian Student League” was held in the city of Chernivtsi – one of the largest all-Ukrainian student events, in which students of Sumy National Agrarian University participated.
The goal of the Congress was to strengthen the role and develop the institutional capacity of student self-government bodies, exchange experience between student leaders, and form joint approaches to solving current challenges in the field of youth policy. The Ukrainian Student League is an all-Ukrainian association of student self-government bodies that represents the interests of students, promotes the development of the student movement, and forms stable mechanisms of communication between students, state institutions, and international partners.
The participation of representatives of Sumy National Agrarian University in the Congress is important for forming a positive image of SNAU, establishing close horizontal ties with students of various higher education institutions, and strengthening the integration of the university into the all-Ukrainian student space.
The first day of the Congress was held at the Ivan Mykolaychuk Cultural and Art Center. The program included a discussion of the media strategy of student self-government bodies and the role of relocated universities in regional communities. Participants took part in reporting blocks, a retrospective of the activities of the Executive Board, and thematic discussions.
The second day of the Congress was held at the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. The focus was on issues of partnership between student self-government bodies and state institutions, global opportunities for Ukrainian students, international partnerships, as well as communication challenges and the reputational component of the OSS activities. The final day of the Congress was held at the Academic Palace and was dedicated to reflection, team interaction, and the search for resources for the further development of the student movement. The participants were able to summarize the results of the work and outline the vectors of further cooperation.
This year, the delegates from Sumy National Agrarian University were students of the Faculty of Economics and Management Ilona Sayko and Maria Petukhova, who is also the current head of the Separate Unit of the Public Union “Ukrainian Student League” in Sumy region.
The participants note that the Congress has become an important platform for a deeper acquaintance with the possibilities of international mobility, the latest trends in student media and the role of strategic communications. The event provided an opportunity to join discussions on the institutional capacity of student self-government bodies, analyze team-building processes and establish new connections with representatives of different regions of Ukraine.
