Published: June 14, 2023

On June 12, 2023, Sumy National Agrarian University hosted a meeting of representatives of the ARORO international program with scientific and pedagogical staff of the biological-technological and veterinary medicine faculties as for the training of cynologists specialized in the detection of mines and other explosive objects. In addition, the Rector of the university, V. LADYKA, and the head of the ARORO educational program, M. GAYMAN, signed a memorandum of cooperation within the framework of the program “Development of anti-personnel mine detection products”. During the visit, the guests gave the opportunity to the students of the biological and technological faculty to take part in an interview for the selection of candidates for future instructors, whose training will take place in Cambodia

ARORO is a program in the field of humanitarian demining. The main aim of their activities is the exchange of experience between partner countries in the search for explosive substances and devices. Currently, the organization has 250 “operational” animals that are involved in work in Angola, Cambodia, Zimbabwe, Turkey, South Azerbaijan and some other countries.

For Ukraine, the problem of demining is very acute. 40% of the territory of our country is currently mined, 126 people, including 6 children, died as a result of detonation using explosive devices.

We will remind you that the Rector of Sumy National Agrarian University, V. LADYKA, initiated a meeting between the participants of the ARORO program and its leader M. GAYMAN, with representatives of the police cynologists in April this year, which was the first step towards cooperation.
