SNAU WELCOMED ITS GUESTS

Published: May 1, 2023

Sumy National Agrarian University was founded 46 years ago. Now it is a leading agrarian institution of higher education. In honour of its birthday, the university invited entrants, graduates of previous years and all interested parties.

In his video message, the Rector of SNAU Volodymyr Ladyka thanked the teachers and students, summed up the university’s activities: “We remained active, we remained devoted to Ukraine. Our achievements today are really what we can talk about. We have made gains in education, we have continued cooperation with agrarian business, we conduct dual education, which is already felt in the context of our graduates training quality. We are among the fifty best universities of Ukraine in terms of the number of scientific papers. I am glad that in this difficult time we have also achieved success in international activities.” The full video can be viewed at the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65TOq9xoGxI&t=2s

On this day, almost half a thousand people gathered on the territory of the university. Various career guidance events were held for guests and invitees. Each faculty demonstrated its achievements, presented the material and technical base and provided information about specialties. So, students and teachers of the Faculty of Food Technologies organized a delicious tasting of hard cheeses and other dairy products. Representatives of the “Cynology” educational program took part in the event with their pets – trained dogs of various breeds. One of the highlights of the event was the planting of a new avenue of unique plants in Volodymyr Kokhanovskyi Arboretum.  Potential applicants also learned about the features of admission in 2023. The department for organizing educational activity with students initiated the photo quest “Discover the secrets of SNAU”, and some faculties even laid out a “Time Capsule”.

Addressing the audience Vice-Rector for Academic and Educational Work, Professor Ihor Kovalenko said that the university had significant achievements and was confidently moving forward, despite any obstacles and challenges. He noted: “Educational and scientific results, international cooperation, support of agrarian business give us confidence in the future».

There were also sad notes that day. Last year the university lost several people who were creators of the institution’s history. Memorial plaques were opened to the founder of the university, the first rector, Professor Ivan Briukhovetskyi and the long-time dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Professor Mykhailo Dovzhyk.

Ivan Briukhovetskyi is a person who built the university with his own hands, literally and figuratively. Back in 1977, he started a powerful educational institution, created a strong team of scientific and pedagogical workers who worked for the benefit of the university. At the beginning of its establishment SNAU had only three specialties and a little more than a hundred students. Today, it is a large international higher education institution with almost 11,000 students from 27 countries.

Professor Mykhailo Dovzhyk was a dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology from 2005 to 2022. This person dedicated his life to the faculty, was an excellent leader, teacher, scientist, who is and will be remembered by thousands of students to whom he paved the way.

We sincerely thank the guests, entrants, students and employees for the day that we spent together as one friendly family!
