On 24 March, the traditional Rector’s Cup competition for students of the 2026 cohort took place at the SNAU sports complex, bringing together students in their pursuit of victory, personal development and team spirit. Participants competed in several sports: volleyball, darts, table tennis and arm wrestling, demonstrating strength, endurance and sporting enthusiasm.
The event began with a minute silence in memory of those fighting for Ukraine’s right to exist. This moment served as a symbolic reminder of the importance of unity and resilience, even in difficult times.
The following teams took part in the competition:
Igor Mykolaiovych addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, emphasising:
“We remember – and we move forward. Sport in the lives of students is more than just competition: it is unity, character and a drive for development. It is here that team spirit and strength are forged, leading to victory. I wish everyone a wonderful competition!”
A highlight of the sporting programme was a performance by the contemporary dance group ‘INSPIRATION’, which created an atmosphere of support and inspiration for both participants and spectators. The competition was organised by the Student Affairs Department, the Department of Physical Education, the primary trade union organisation of SNAU lecturers and staff, as well as the panel of judges and coaches.
The winners were presented with their awards by Yurii Danko, Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs.
All teams also received sweet gifts from the SNAU Primary Trade Union of Students and Postgraduates.
The competition proved once again that sport in the student community is not just about victories, but also about unity, mutual support and faith in the future.
