The student body of the Sumy National Agrarian University joined the solemn events on the occasion of Europe Day.
This year, Ukrainians celebrated Europe Day for the first time on the 9th of May. The relevant decree was signed the day before by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskii. This date has become a symbol of unity, peace and cohesion for all European countries.
Ceremonial events took place near the monument to Taras Shevchenko. Representatives of the government, the military, citizens and, of course, the youth of Sumy’s higher education institutions – the engine of Ukraine’s movement towards Europe – gathered here.
Smiling, joyful, full of motivation and patriotism, with Ukrainian and European symbols in their hands, students of the Sumy National Agrarian University laid flowers at the foot of the monument to Taras Shevchenko.
It is important to remember the price our people paid and still pay for a better life in a European democratic society. This is the way to a sovereign state that is territorially intact and free from the Russian shackles that restrained Ukrainians for many centuries.
