SUMY IS CELEBRATING ITS 367TH ANNIVERSARY

Published: September 5, 2022

Every year the residents of Sumy and guests of the region celebrate the City Day on the first Saturday of September, which is timed to the date of the liberation of Sumy from the Nazis (on the 2nd of September, 1943). In 2022, this holiday became special for everyone: both for those who miss their native home far outside Ukraine, and for those who defended the city and region from Russian invaders for a long time.

Sumy is a city of happy and always smiling people. Sumy is a place where people sincerely love and hug tenderly. Sumy is a region that preserves the flavour of Slobozhanshchyna’s history and nature, a sense of the impermanence of time.

“Visit Sumy when the roses are blooming…Visit when the trees are covered with yellow-hot leaves and the city seems to have frozen in a colourful velvet outfit…Visit in winter, when the rivers and lakes are made of light white marble. When the poplar, maple, linden and chestnut avenues look like delicate transparent watercolours… Visit Sumy on the City Day – on the first Saturday of September…” (My Sumy. The team of the Sumy National Agrarian University congratulates the townspeople on the holiday. Let our city prosper and improve, and the residents of Sumy experience only peace of mind and happiness.

Happy holiday!
