On May 29, 2025, an expanded meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Vice-Rectors for Research of Higher Education Institutions subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine was held at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. The event brought together representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Council of Vice-Rectors, the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, the National Council for the Development of Science and Technology, leading universities, research institutions and international partners. Sumy National Agrarian University was represented by Yurii DANKO, Vice-Rector for Research and International Activities.
Opening the meeting, Volodymyr PAVLIKOV, Chairman of the Council of Vice-Rectors for Research, emphasized the importance of the unity of the scientific community in the face of modern challenges.
The meeting was welcomed by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, who outlined key tasks for the development of the scientific sphere and identified priorities for further work of universities, in particular in terms of technology transfer, development of youth science and strengthening cooperation with business. Director General of the Directorate for Science Development of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Hryhorii MOZOLEVYCH, Director General of the Directorate for Innovation and Science-Real Sector Relations Oksana BEREZHNA, and Head of the Higher Education Certification Office Svitlana KRYSHTOF focused on opportunities to support scientific activities, attract grant funds, and implement programs to support young scientists.
During the meeting, Vadym TKACHUK, Rector of NULES, presented the university as a platform for innovative solutions and scientific achievements. Head of the Scientific Committee of the National Council for the Development of Science and Technology Oleksandra ANTONIUK emphasized the need to unite efforts to develop science in Ukraine and presented the initiative “Developing Science Together”.
Olga POLOTSKA, Executive Director of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, spoke about opportunities for young scientists and the importance of involving them in scientific work. Hanna TOLSTANOVA, Vice-Rector for Research at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, shared her experience of training graduate students in cooperation with knowledge-intensive enterprises, emphasizing the importance of practical orientation of scientific research.
Yurii DANKO, Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Activities of Sumy National Agrarian University, presented the initiative to establish a national branch of ASTP (Association of European Science and Technology Transfer Professionals) in Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of establishing systematic interaction between science and business, developing an innovative ecosystem and integrating Ukrainian universities into the European scientific space.
The participants of the event also had the opportunity to get acquainted with the material and technical base of NULES, including the botanical garden, agrochemistry laboratories, the center for aquatic bioresources and aquaculture, and the soil museum, which demonstrate the strong scientific potential of the university.
